The Scale of Awesome

If there’s a key, then there must also be a lock (#SPN). In the same way, you can’t have a scale without having a key. So here’s mine.

All my movies are awesome. But there is a scale of awesome.

One bowl of popcorn – this movie is good enough to be in the collection, but not high on the favorites list. This may because it’s hard to watch or because the story is only so-so or because there is a terrible actor. Whatever the cause, it’s still good and should be watched, but it isn’t the best so buyer beware.

Two bowls of popcorn – this movie is pretty good. It’s not perfect, but it’s been watched more than once. It deserves a touch more respect than a one-bowler, but this may only be because it has something charming in it’s story or it has an actor that steals your heart.

Three bowls of popcorn – this movie is a bit better than pretty good. A three bowler is one that sits in the middle of the scale and teeters. Depending on my mood, it could be a four-bowler or a two-bowler. It’s a toughie, but a goodie.

Four bowls of popcorn – this movie is great! It’s not the best, but it’s pretty darn close. It may earn this ranking because of an awesome plot twist or because of an epic actor or because it’s cool looking. Whatever the cause, I’m sure it’s well deserved (it’s my scale, right!).

Five bowls of popcorn – this is it. This movie has earned it’s place in the hallowed halls of epicness. This ranking is bestowed on those of a classic nature or a purely awesome storyline. This is a hard distinction to earn, but these movies rise to the challenge.

So my rankings may seem ambiguous to you, but you have my word that I do try to be at least somewhat subjective and discerning. Disagree with my ranking on a movie? Leave a comment and tell me what you think!
